Allan Pritchard Limited
AP Design are Architectual Designers from Christchurch, New Zealand. While working in the Architectural department of a large international commercially focused, multi-disciplined practice in the 1990's Allan became frustrated working within a giant corporation that he likened to a supertanker. New initiatives could take months or years to implement.
A fully loaded supertanker takes 3kms to stop and has a 2km turning cycle, a jetboat can stop and turn within its own length
Allan set out to create a dynamic company that could change to meet the needs of clients and respond to new technology at any moment. In 2005 Allan set up the architectural design practice AP Design. With the mindset of taking on any challenge and adapting to suit the situation AP Design specialised in complex residential homes and additions, hillside projects, container housing and commercial projects.
Prior to the earthquakes in Canterbury AP Design had 6 designers all working closely together. After the earthquakes AP Design were quick to adapt to the new environment and now have 22 staff in two offices.
During the February 22nd Christchurch earthquake the ground was permanently displaced 0.5m horizontally and the Port Hills raised by 0.4m.
